Spinach prefers consistently-moist soil and regular feedings with seaweed or compost tea.
Spinach plants should be 4 to 6 inches apart. Spinach transplants should be planted in rows on top of raised planting beds.
Harvest by removing only the outer leaves and allowing the center leaves to grow larger; this will allow the plant to keep producing. Picking the outer leaves also gives the advantage of briefly delaying bolting.
By growing it in pots, you can enjoy homegrown spinach fresh or sauteed, even if you live in an apartment or a city home with a small yard.
