The piglet or piglets are unable to produce their own body heat, so they must have a heat source that will keep them 85-90 degrees with no drafts. A heat lamp or heating pad are a good source. Straw bedding, small blankets that will not trap the piglet can also provide warmth. Their area must be kept dry and warm.
The pregnant sow should be given some feed high in nutrients e.g. grain and greenstuffs every day. Giving the sow access to clean soil or grass with roots from land where no pigs have been kept will allow her to get the minerals she needs.
Pigs should be dewormed every 4-6 months depending on your area for internal and external parasites. These parasites are common in the pig’s environment, especially those that root and graze or spend time outdoors
